Fees and Insurance

Standard Fee

Our fee structure is determined by each psychotherapist while keeping in line with the range of standard fees for clinical services at any given year. Most importantly, it is based on each therapist’s education, post-graduate training, and experiences in the field of clinical social work and psychotherapy. Please see the detailed fee structure for each of our clinician below. Taxes do not apply to clinical social work services such as counseling and psychotherapy. Longer sessions are available upon request and the fees will be pro-rated.

Should it be needed, in the discretion of the clinician, the session may be extended beyond the standard time based on the client’s needs at no charge.

Affordable Therapy Program

We strongly believe that counseling and psychotherapy services should be accessible to all.

For this reason alone, we have decided to offer an Affordable Therapy Program which will benefit children and youth in need of immediate services, and those families and individuals who do not have sufficient income, adequate group benefits (or none), or have exhausted their coverage. To access this program, simply fill out the online application form below and submit it to our office before your first session.

The program offers 5 fee categories which will be determined by the clinician based on the information provided on the form below. Considering your annual income and the status of your group benefits plan, you may be offered one of the following fees on an ongoing basis: (1) $150.00; (2) $140.00; (3) $130.00; (4) $120.00; and (5) $110.00 per 1-hour individual session.

Lower fee options may be available depending on the clinician’s caseload and your circumstance. Please note that only Associate Clinicians offer this program at this time.

Insurance Coverage

The majority of group benefits plans cover clinical services from registered social workers (RSWs) under the category of allied healthcare or mental health and psychological services.

Important Update: In early 2020, in response to the pandemic, the Government of Canada announced temporary changes to the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP)* to include RSWs as psychological providers. The new tentative agreement which was announced on August 8, 2022 permanently includes RSWs and increases the maximum eligible amounts from $2000 to $5000. For more information, please click on this link.

* The PSHCP applies to: federal public service employees; members of Parliament; federal judges; employees of a number of designated agencies and corporations; veterans who are members of the Veterans Affairs client group as defined in the Plan Document; members of the Canadian Forces (CF) and of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP); persons receiving pension benefits based on service in one of the above capacities; and eligible dependents of Plan members.

Fees for sessions charged by a RSW are often covered by third party insurers such as an employee’s private health or group benefits, WSIB, auto insurer, Victim of Crime Program, or other sources. Private counselling and psychotherapy services are not covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

Our clinic does not provide direct billing services with an except of the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program for First Nations and Inuit. It is important for clients to contact their insurance provider to verify the eligibility and amount of coverage. We are not responsible for confirming the details of your group benefits plan.

Please note that the NIHB prior approval and claims will be directly submitted to Express Scripts Canada by our office. Express Scripts Canada delivers Health Information and Claims Processing Services (HICPS) on behalf of Indigenous Services Canada’s NIHB Program.
